DAY 1 USA / LONDON: Depart from the US on your overnight flight to London, England.

DAY 2 LONDON: Arrival in London, meet with our assistant and shortly afterwards depart on a sightseeing tour of London. Your guided tour will include views of London landmarks such as Elizabeth Tower (Big Ben), Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, The Shard, and others. Visit the Tower of London, where the Beefeaters guard the dazzling Crown Jewels, and where you will gain excellent views of Tower Bridge from the Medieval Palace. Finish your day aboard the iconic London Eye. Enjoy a glass of chilled Pommery Brut Royal Champagne served by your host as you admire landmarks such as Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, and Big Ben. Afterwards, transfer to your hotel. This evening enjoy welcome dinner in a local restaurant. (D)

DAY 3 WINDSOR & LONDON FOOD EXPERIENCE: Enjoy breakfast. Depart from London and make your way towards Windsor Castle, the largest inhabited castle in the world, and the Queen’s favorite residence. Subject to opening restrictions, you may see the State Apartments, St. George’s Chapel, and Queen Mary’s Doll’s House. Afterwards, return to London and depart on a Secret Food walking tour that takes you past lots of historic parts of London including quirky pubs, Borough Market and The Shard. You will discover lots of local knowledge whilst enjoying lots of gorgeous food all in the London Bridge area. The remainder of your afternoon and evening are free. (B/L)

DAY 4 CUBS VS. CARDINALS: Enjoy breakfast in your hotel followed by some free time to explore London. This afternoon meet back at your hotel and transfer to the London Olympic Stadium where the Chicago Cubs take on the St Louis Cardinals. Enjoy VIP reserved seats that includes early entry to the stadium, special dining menu, and an open bar. After the game, transfer back to your hotel for overnight. (B)

DAY 5 LONDON AT LEISURE / PUB CRAWL: Enjoy breakfast followed by a free day to explore London on your own with a travelcard enabling use of London’s tubes and iconic red busses. This evening, meet back in your hotel and depart on an evening pub crawl, visiting three well known pubs in London:

  • The Prospect of Whitby in Wapping – standing since 1520, it was once known as the ‘Devil’s Tavern’; and the noose and gallows still hang from the balcony.
  • Mayflower Pub – Named after the ‘Mayflower’ which was moored next door, anyone related to the voyagers should sign their book of ‘Mayflower Descendants’.
  • The Grapes – Described in the opening of Charles Dickens’ ‘Our Mutual Friend’, this pub now has Ian McKellen as its leaseholder.

Enjoy a drink in each of the pubs, and dinner in one. Afterwards, make your way back to your hotel for overnight. (B/D)

DAY 6 LONDON / USA: After breakfast, bid farewell to London as you transfer to the airport, where after check-in you will have plenty of time for your last-minute duty-free shopping. Your flight to the US arrives the same day. Have a safe journey! (B)

DAY 1 USA / DUBLIN: Fly transatlantic overnight from Chicago to Dublin Ireland. Dinner is served and in-flight entertainment is provided.

DAY 2 ARRIVE IN DUBLIN, IRELAND / GALWAY: Welcome to Ireland! After collecting your bags, you will meet with your driver in the arrival’s hall at Dublin Airport. Depart and make your way to a local pub for your first full Irish breakfast of the week! Then head for Galway. Pause in Clonmacnoise, an early Christian site founded by St. Ciarán in the mid-6th century on the eastern bank of the River Shannon. The site includes the ruins of a cathedral, seven churches (10th-13th century), two round towers, three high crosses and the largest collection of Early Christian grave Christian grave slabs in Western Europe. Continue to Galway where you enjoy a panoramic tour of this great city. Check in to your hotel and enjoy the rest of your afternoon at leisure. This evening enjoy a welcome dinner in your hotel. DAY 3 FREE DAY IN GALWAY, OR CONNEMARA EXCURSION: After breakfast in your hotel, you have a choice. Today you might decide to spend you day exploring Galway independently. Early afternoon, you might like to join Lou as he broadcasts live from the residents’ lounge in the hotel. Or, you might like join our excursion out to Connemara. Whitewashed cottages are scattered over a land of rocky mountains, sparkling brooks and rivers. Stop for to visit the beautiful Kylemore Abbey, a castellated neo-Gothic mansion occupied since 1920 by the Irish Benedictine community of Nuns. Onwards to Clifden for free time to enjoy lunch. Visit the Connemara Marble Factory before returning to Galway where your evening is free. (B)

DAY 4 GALWAY / CLIFFS OF MOHER / KILLARNEY: After breakfast, depart Galway and head south towards County Kerry.  Travel around the magnificent Galway Bay and on through the Burren. Pause to visit the dramatic, near-vertical Cliffs of Moher, rising 700 feet above the pounding Atlantic waves. From the cliffs on a clear day you can see the Aran Islands and Galway Bay. O’Brien’s Tower stands near the highest point and has served as a viewing point for visitors for hundreds of years. Afterward, cross the River Shannon by ferry and head to Killarney where you enjoy dinner in your hotel. (B/D)

DAY 5 DINGLE PENINSULA EXCURSION: Today, begin by heading out to the beautiful Dingle Peninsula. This peninsula is a Gaeltacht, a unique area where the Irish language is preserved. We’ll drive to the Gallarus Oratory – a tiny stone church – built between the 6th and 9th century, which preserved Christianity in Ireland; Slea Head; beehive huts; views of the Blasket Islands; harbors; beaches; all spectacular! There is time to explore the town of Dingle, a colorful fishing port. Later, return to Killarney where the remainder of your afternoon and evening are free. (B)

DAY 6 KILLARNEY / BANTRY / BLARNEY / CORK: After breakfast, depart from Killarney and start your journey towards Cork. Enjoy picturesque views of the Lakes of Killarney as you drive through Moll’s Gap and over the Caha Mountains. Stop to see the stone circle, before continuing through Kenmare and Glengarriff. Enjoy a boat ride to Garnish Island, home to an Italianate garden landscape, viewing seals on the rocks of Bantry Bay. Then on to visit Bantry House, which was built in 1720 and has scenic views of Bantry Bay. Afterwards, make your way to visit Blarney Castle with its magical stone that gives the gift of eloquence for a kiss. There is time to stop at Blarney Woollen Mills to shop before driving a short distance to the beautiful Hayfield Manor Hotel for dinner and overnight. (B/D)

DAY 7 CORK / DUBLIN FOOD TRAIL: After breakfast you depart from Cork early this morning and make your way toward Dublin. When you arrive in Dublin, depart on a Dublin Tasting Walk. Visit a range of bakeries, food halls, street markets, cheese mongers, delicatessens, and other specialty shops. You’ll meet those who have produced and traded great food for generations as well as recent arrivals who use great Irish produce to bring new international and contemporary tastes to the table. As you enjoy the food, you’ll also learn a little about the culture and history of each neighborhood. Afterward, visit the Guinness Storehouse. Raise a mug of the “black stuff” and drink in Dublin views at the Gravity Bar. This evening you are free in Dublin. (B/L)

OCTOBER 11 USA / LONDON: Depart from Chicago on your overnight flight to London, England.

OCTOBER 12 LONDON: Arrival in London, meet with your Tour Director and shortly afterwards make your way to the Victoria and Albert Museum for breakfast. After breakfast, enjoy a guided tour of the V&A Museum. The Victoria and Albert Museum (often abbreviated as the V&A) in London is the world’s largest museum of decorative arts and design, housing a permanent collection of over 4.5 million objects. It was founded in 1852 and named after Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. The museum owns the world’s largest collection of post-classical sculpture, with the holdings of Italian Renaissance items being the largest outside Italy. The departments of Asia include art from South Asia, China, Japan, Korea and the Islamic world. Afterwards, transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is free to spend at your leisure. OCTOBER 14 LONDON / WINDSOR / OXFORD: Enjoy breakfast. Depart from London and make your way towards Windsor Castle, the largest inhabited castle in the world, and the Queen’s favorite residence. Onward to Oxford, home to England’s oldest university, where you may take a walk through the impressive buildings that are still home to the university’s main ceremonial and educational functions. OCTOBER 15 OXFORD / SALISBURY: After breakfast, depart from Oxford and make your way towards Salisbury. Your first stop today will be visit the Bombay Sapphire Distillery. During your self-guided tour, discover the artistry and heritage behind Bombay Sapphire at the state-of-the-art distillery. Enjoy a special cocktail masterclass. Continue to visit Stonehenge, arguably the most famous prehistoric site in Europe, it inspires wonder at the effort it must have taken to drag the enormous stones over the land and erect them in circles. Later, head to Salisbury for overnight. (B)

OCTOBER 16 SALISBURY / BATH / STRATFORD-UPON-AVON: Departing from Salisbury you make your way towards the beautiful Georgian city of Bath, often regarded as one of the loveliest cities in all of England. From its beginnings as a Roman camp in the first century AD, Bath developed through troubled centuries to emerge in the 1700′s as a fashionable “spa” resort. Some of England’s best-preserved Georgian architecture is housed here, together with fascinating relics of earlier eras. You will tour the Roman Baths that were discovered in an excellent state of preservation near to Bath Abbey church and see the magnificent Palladian architecture for which the city is renowned (seen at its best in the Circus and the Royal Crescent). Afterwards, depart and continue your journey towards Stratford-upon-Avon. Visit Shakespeare’s Birthplace, a restored 16th-century half-timbered house where it is believed he was born in 1564 and spent his childhood years. OCTOBER 17 THE COTSWOLDS: After breakfast, depart and travel the short distance to visit Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, the childhood home of Shakespeare’s wife. The beautiful thatched farmhouse was occupied by descendants of the Hathaway family until it’s purchase by the Trust in 1892 and still contains many rare family items of furniture that date back to Anne’s time, including the finely carved, oak Hathaway bed. Afterwards, enjoy the beauty of the Cotswolds, famous for its stone villages, lush pastures, and old-world atmosphere.
