Irish Adventure Itinerary

DAY 1 ARRIVE IN DUBLIN, IRELAND: Arrive Dublin where you are met by your driver/guide. Meet your fellow travelers this evening for a welcome dinner in Dublin’s oldest pub whilst a storyteller regales you with tales of Irish folklore. Overnight in Davenport Hotel which holds UNESCO Literature Plaque. Hotel Name: O’Callaghan’s Davenport Hotel. (D)

DAY 2 DUBLIN: Take in some of Dublin’s highlights with your guide this morning including St Patrick’s Cathedral, Trinity College, the exquisitely illustrated Book of Kells and the sights and sounds of bustling Grafton Street, concluding with a visit to the Guinness Brewery & Storehouse. Learn about the production of the ‘dark stuff ’ and try a pint against a backdrop of wonderful 360-degree views from the top-floor Gravity Bar. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure; perhaps embark on a literary ramble which could include the Dublin Writers Museum, the James Joyce Center and drinks at Neary’s pub, formerly a favorite with Brendan Behan. Alternatively, you may wish to join your tour director to visit the Chester Beatty Library, a fantastic collection of beautiful Asian artifacts. Hotel Name: O’Callaghan’s Davenport Hotel. (B)

DAY 3 DUBLIN / WATERFORD / CORK: Head south into County Wicklow and visit the historic Avoca woollen mill which dates back to 1723. Later, continue to Waterford, Ireland’s oldest town which was founded by the Vikings in the 9th century. At the House of Waterford Crystal, a factory tour introduces you to all aspects of traditional crystal production. Continue south to Cork and enjoy dinner together this evening. DAY 4 CORK / BLARNEY / KILLARNEY: After breakfast marvel at the impressive array of fresh produce for sale at the English Market before departing to Blarney Castle, a ruined 15th-century keep, where kissing the famous Blarney Stone gives you the ‘gift of the gab’ (you do need to climb 127 steep steps to the battlements first!). Later, enjoy a relaxing tour by jaunting cart (horse and carriage), the perfect way to admire the spectacular vibrant scenery in the Killarney National Park. DAY 5 RING OF KERRY: Today, join your guide and enjoy the terrific, untouched mountain and coastal scenery of the Ring of Kerry. Pass through Waterville (a favorite with Charlie Chaplin) and visit Derrynane House, the home of Daniel O’Connell, ‘The Liberator’. Later, stop in the pretty village of Sneem with its many different colored houses and enjoy refreshments at a family farm whilst gaining an insight into local agricultural life with an impressive sheepdog demonstration. The final stop on the tour is at Ladies View, a famous panoramic viewpoint overlooking three glistening lakes reflecting the rugged mountains beyond.Hotel Name: Killarney Plaza Hotel. (B/D)

DAY 6 KILLARNEY / FOYNES / ADARE / ENNIS: Drive north this morning to Foynes and the Foynes Flying Boat Museum where you can learn about the history of the town. Foynes was once the center for Irish aviation and the place where, in 1943, Irish Coffee was invented – be sure to have a taste before leaving. Continue to the picturesque village of Adare, a charming place for a leisurely stroll and lunch independently. Continue to Ennis this afternoon.Enjoy dinner at your hotel this evening. DAY 7 CLIFFS OF MOHER & THE BURREN: Depart to admire one of Ireland’s most renowned natural sites, the majestic Cliffs of Moher which rise over 700ft above the Atlantic. After taking a look around the new visitors’ center, head to Doolin for lunch followed by a tour of its impressive cave containing the longest stalactite in the Northern Hemisphere at 23ft! The day concludes with a visit to the Burren, an expanse covering over 100 square miles of irregular slabs of limestone which are a haven for all manner of plants and

DAY 8 DEPART SHANNON: After breakfast, transfer to Shannon airport, where your Irish Adventure concludes. (B)[printfriendly]
