MAY 11 USA / DUBLIN: Depart from Chicago on your overnight flight to Dublin, Ireland

MAY 12 ARRIVE DUBLIN / ADARE:  Welcome to Ireland! After collecting your bags, you will meet with your driver in the arrivals hall at Dublin Airport. Shortly afterwards, your group transfer will depart and make its way across the midlands towards Adare in County Limerick. The remainder of your day is free to relax and prepare for some great days of golf! Enjoy dinner in your hotel. (B/D)

MAY 13 GOLF LAHINCH: Enjoy breakfast early this morning before departing for Lahinch Golf Course. Golf has been played at Lahinch since 1892 when officers of a Scottish Army Regiment based at nearby Limerick, happened upon the vast expanse of sand dunes that is Lahinch Golf Club. Of interest to golf historians is that the course was originally designed by the legendary Old Tom Morris of St. Andrews, who enthused that, ‘I consider the links as fine a natural course as it has ever been my good fortune to play over’. In 1928 the layout was revised by Dr. Alastair McKenzie who was so impressed that he declared, ‘Lahinch will make the finest and most popular course that I or anyone else ever constructed’. Praise indeed from the man also responsible for Pebble Beach, Cypress Point and Augusta National. Lahinch Golf Club is famed also for some of its idiosyncrasies including the weather forecasting goats who will graze out on the dunes in fine weather but will seek the shade of the clubhouse when they sense rain approaching. Then there is the famous par five Klondyke, 4th hole when a completely blind second shot has to hit over a monstrous sand dune some 200 yards from the green. The par three Dell, 5th hole features a completely blind green, the golfer being guided by a white rock on the sand dune in front of the green. A redevelopment program recently completed under the direction of Martin Hawtree has seen the reconstruction of many McKenzie features most notably contouring of greens, enhancement of layout of several holes and construction of two gems of par 3’s. The program has resulted in a course that is now surely one of the best links in the world.

Non-golfers will enjoy a morning at leisure in Ennis. This afternoon, travel out to Lahinch, pick up the golfers and make your way for a walk along the Cliffs of Moher, rising 700 feet above the pounding Atlantic waves. Afterwards, return to Adare for overnight. (B)

MAY 14 GOLF BALLYBUNION / ONWARDS TO KILLARNEY: After breakfast, golfers and non-golfers will depart together from Adare and head south towards Killarney. On the way, golfers will enjoy a round of golf on the Old Course at Ballybunion.

The mention of the old course at Ballybunion Golf Club, strikes a chord with golfing enthusiasts around the globe. Rated one of the ten best golf courses in the world, standing on the first tee at Ballybunion is every bit as awe inspiring as one could imagine in many respects, it’s like standing on the first at the Old Course in St. Andrews.

Non-golfers will continue and head out to the beautiful Dingle Peninsula. This peninsula is a Gaeltacht, a unique area where the Irish language is preserved. There is time to explore the town of Dingle, a colorful fishing port. Later, head towards Killarney, the town on the lakes is famous for its lively pubs and open, cheerful atmosphere, full of what the Irish call “craic!” – Gaelic for fun. This evening enjoy dinner in your hotel. (B/D)

MAY 15 KILLARNEY: After breakfast, enjoy a morning Jaunting Car ride through Killarney National Park. View Ross Castle and Muckross House, situated at the heart of Killarney and known for its scenic beauty. The remainder of your day and evening are free in Killarney. (B)

MAY 16 GOLF TRALEE: This morning, golfers will depart for Tralee Golf Course. Designed and built by Arnold Palmer, this stunning setting represents a true paradise for those willing to challenge what is widely acclaimed as one of the finest links courses in the world. Each hole on this unique golf course offers its own special challenge. A brave heart and steady nerve will be required to tackle the par 5 second, the par 3 third and the par 4 eight. The twelfth, thirteenth, sixteenth and seventeenth have each wreaked havoc with many a fine score on this 6,877-yard course. The treacherous traps and undulating greens all add up to make this a golf course you will want to tackle again and again. Afterwards, return to Killarney for dinner and overnight.

Non-golfers; after breakfast, depart and make your way towards county Cork for a visit to Blarney Castle with its magical stone that gives the gift of eloquence for a kiss. There is plenty of time to stop at Blarney Woollen Mills to shop before returning to meet the golfers for dinner in Killarney. (B/D)

MAY 17 KILLARNEY / COBH / MIDLETON / DUBLIN: Enjoy breakfast in your hotel. Today, travel to Cobh Heritage Centre. Here you will view a dramatic exhibition of the origins, history and legacy of Cobh. Cobh is situated on the southern shore in one of the world’s finest natural harbors. Between 1848 and 1950, over 6 million adults and children emigrated from Ireland – over 2.5 million from Cobh, making it the single most important port of emigration in the country. Cobh was the last port of call for the ill-fated Titanic. Afterwards, visit the Old Midleton Distillery, home of Jameson Irish Whiskey, a Local Specialty, and taste the triple-distilled, twice-as-smooth whiskey. Onwards to Dublin where this evening you are free to explore Dublin’s great Pubs and fine restaurants. (B)

MAY 18 GOLF PORTMARNOCK: After breakfast, depart and make your way to Portmarnock. Portmarnock is one of the finest golf links in Ireland. Though the landscape is relatively flat, each hole has its own individual character, the total of which is a memorable challenging golf links, regarded as a classic worldwide. Portmarnock is surrounded by water on three sides and is unique in the no two successive holes play in the same direction, thus making judgment of the wind all the more difficult. More important golf tournaments have been held at Portmarnock than any other Irish course. The British Amateur, The Walker Cup and Canada Cup have all been held here. But it is perhaps the Irish Open and the illustrious list of winners at Portmarnock, including Ben Crenshaw, Seve Ballesteros, Bernhard Langer and Jose Maria Olazabal, that most people came to know the Portmarnock Golf Club. Afterwards, return to Dublin where you will meet with the non-golfers and make your way to the Guinness Storehouse. The seven-story, pint glass-shaped interior of the Guinness brewery and storehouse features a multimedia experience that includes interactive exhibits and demonstrations of the brewing process. Raise a mug of the “black stuff” and drink in Dublin views at the Gravity Bar. This evening enjoy traditional entertainment a good food in a local Pub. (B/D)
